About


Although educated as a classical composer Jørgen Karlstrøm works with a wide range of music; from contemporary classical music, to hardcore and black metal, from electronic pop, to folk music and indie rock, with album credits as both producer, engineer, musician, composer, and artist. As a composer of contemporary classical music Jørgen Karlstrøm has been commissioned by and written for, among others, the The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Arditti String Quartet, and the Ultima festival.
Educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo, Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, and the Grieg Academy in Bergen. MA from the Norwegian Academy of Music with a thesis on instrumentation and timbre control in acoustic ensembles with the help of computer.

Is currently chairman of the Norwegian Society of Composers, and deputy chair of board of directors in TONO.
